Share it maybe – Chocolate Chip Cookies
Have you seen the youtube video from cookie monster?
You inner kid will love this one! I’m the eldest of 4, so as you can imagine, I watched more than my fair share of Sesame Street. There were a few iconic moments for me: For example, the “Hola means Hello” ballroom dance – my first experience with ballroom, which I followed up with a good dose of Fred Astaire, and finally a spot on the William & Mary Ballroom Team – go tribe!
The Swedish Chef: “Mmm yum-i-dy choc-o-late” was always a favourite (It’s still on my iPod these days). And then of course there’s Cookie Monster. C is one letter I was never going to forget. Why, you ask… Because C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me, oh C is for cookie that’s good enough for me, oh C is for cookie that’s good enough for me. Oh cookie cookie cookie starts with C! =D And now Sesame Street has done it again, taking the ubiquitous “Call Me Maybe” and turning it into “Share It Maybe”, a wonderful anthem to sharing and COOKIES.
To help you get into the spirit, I’ve made you yet another batch of cookies- the infamous Levain Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookie, YUM! I made these for a games night with friends and I have to say, they compete with my previous favourite chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Here’s what you need:
- 2 sticks butter (226g cold and cut into cubes)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar (original recipe suggests half light half dark)
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups chocolate chips (I used half white, half dark
Here’s what you do:
- Preheat oven to 375F (190C).
- Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, making sure they’re fully incorporated.
- Now add your dry ingredients to the bowl and mix them in. This makes a very thick dough. Finally fold in chocolate chips.
- Scoop dough onto cookie sheet and form into balls. (I made a half batch and did 12 biggish cookies, but the original recipe says that a normal batch makes 12 – so at your discretion.)
- Bake for about 10 minutes (lightly brown), let cool and remove from cookies sheets. Inside should still be a bit doughy.
